Lakeside Castle / Ruins Scene picture:
Shows a castle or ruined fortification on a hillside beside a lake or broad river.
The ruins are painted with vertical spires/towers—quite possibly inspired by:
Scottish castles (e.g., Kilchurn, Dunnottar),
English ruined abbeys,
or even imaginary “picturesque” ruins.
Foreground:
Two figures walking with a dog on a wooded path.
Large trees with loose, expressive strokes.
Background:
High cliffs and distant hills.
A bright, serene sky with subtle cloud work.
Mountain Background Scene Picture
Depicts a mountainous landscape, possibly the Alps or Pyrenees.
Snow-capped peaks in the background
... are handled with soft washes.
Middle ground shows:
A cluster of stone farm buildings.
A track or road leading into the scene.
A figure or animal shape near the right foreground (possibly livestock or cart).
The palette uses warm earth tones contrasted with cool blues and violets of distant mountains—classic 19th-century atmospheric perspective.
There is a monogram or signature at bottom right that looks like overlapping initials.
