This French Neoclassical double bed from 1920 is made from solid walnut with a warm brown finish and stands on turned, fluted feet. The wooden frame displays carved ribbon motifs along the borders, moulded edges, and cream-coloured padded fabric panels on both the headboard and the footboard. The freshly upholstered panels show a subtle dotted pattern, complementing the pink patterned bedding shown in place. Newly fitted wooden slats support a standard double mattress. Measuring 120 cm high by 146 cm wide and 213 cm deep, the bedframe arrives cleaned and polished in very good condition. Position this double bed as a central piece in a master bedroom or a guest suite to bring a touch of French chateau style to an interior. The neutral cream upholstery and warm walnut tones integrate easily with traditional or transitional bedroom schemes. Pair the frame with vintage linens or contemporary textiles to suit the existing decor of the room.

Originating in 18th-century France, Louis XVI style bedsteads feature Neoclassical design elements including straight geometric frames, fluted turned legs, and understated carved motifs such as ribbons and leaves.

Frames were constructed from dense hardwoods like walnut, beech, or oak, often finished with detailed hand carving, while upholstered panels incorporated woven linen, cotton, or damask fabrics over natural padding.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-carved frame accents, mortise and tenon joinery, genuine walnut grain with natural aged oxidation, and traditional rail attachment hardware rather than modern mass-produced fittings.

Pair the natural timber tones and structured silhouette with neutral linen bedding, soft wall shades, and minimal contemporary nightstands to balance classic woodwork with modern simplicity.

Dust the timber frame regularly with a dry cloth and apply beeswax polish annually along the grain, while gently vacuuming the upholstery using a soft brush attachment to remove surface dust.
