Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A seer measure is a traditional cylindrical measuring vessel used across the Indian subcontinent prior to metrication. The term seer refers to a historic unit of mass and volume, with standard capacities stamped directly onto the metal bands for commercial trade.

These measures were primarily constructed from sheet copper or brass, frequently featuring reinforced brass collars around the upper rim. Dovetailed joints and heavy metal bases ensured durability during daily commercial grain and liquid measuring.

Authentic period measures display hand-stamped capacity marks, such as fractional seer values, along with maker marks or city names like Bombay or Calcutta. Look for hand-riveted construction, seam lines, heavy gauge metal, and natural oxidisation inside the vessels.

Displaying graduated measures in a complete set creates a strong visual line on open kitchen shelving or a central kitchen island. Smaller individual vessels serve as functional desk organisers or cutlery holders, adding warmth and historical texture to modern spaces.

Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners that strip historical patina. If preferred, gently buff exterior brass highlights with a specialized metal polish while leaving natural oxidisation undisturbed in recesses.
