Description

Heals of London 1920’s Low Oak Chest of Drawers – Labelled

A lovely, original low quality oak chest of drawers by Heals of London around 1920. In excellent, clean, original condition and in the original finish. Ideal to use as a television stand, (so we have been told by past clients who have purchased this model). The two long drawers run smoothly and have the original oak oblong handles, the Heals chest stands on square legs and has well panelled sides. The Heals makers label is inset into a drawer. Would work well as a bedside chest too.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Arts and Crafts movement emphasized functional design, traditional craftsmanship, and the natural grain of materials like oak, often rejecting mass-produced ornamentation in favour of simple, honest construction.

British cabinet makers of this period predominantly used solid English oak, often quarter-sawn to highlight the distinctive medullary rays, alongside simpler hardware made from wood or cast metal.

Authentic pieces often feature makers labels, round paper tags, or stamped signatures embedded inside the drawer framework, coupled with clean geometric lines and characteristic pegged joinery.

A low-profile wooden chest functions well as an entryway storage unit or a minimalist bedroom bureau, pairing naturally with neutral textiles and modern lighting to ground the space.

Maintain antique oak surfaces by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying natural beeswax periodically to nourish the wood without building up synthetic residues.
