Victorian sideboards typically feature robust proportions, dense dark woods such as mahogany, and intricate detailing reflecting various revivalism movements of the 19th century.

These pieces were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods like mahogany, oak, or walnut, often featuring hand-selected wood veneers on panelled doors and drawer fronts.

Authenticity is indicated by traditional construction methods such as hand-cut dovetail joints in drawers, period-appropriate timber shrinkage, and original hardware fittings.

Pair the dark wood tones with minimalist decor, neutral walls, and contemporary lighting to create a balanced contrast between historic craftsmanship and modern design.

Maintain the wood by applying high-quality beeswax periodically, keeping the item away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and avoiding silicone-based polishes.
