West persia. Circa 1870

Very old fereghan rug with a nice worn all over country house look.

Central design of clusters of botehs in a repeat pattern.

Even though well worn you can still see the striking yellow and green colours.

Priced accordingly. All over very low pile. End losses and side cord losses although all even. I did hand wash it,last images.

6 foot 7 inches by 4 foot 4 inches. 200cm X 132cm. At widest points. Wool on cotton structure.

Fereghan rugs are hand-knotted Persian textiles produced in the Arak region of central Iran, particularly during the nineteenth century. They are characterised by geometric floral motifs, such as the Herati pattern, and a muted colour palette derived from natural vegetable dyes.
