Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

The Arts and Crafts movement emphasized hand-craftsmanship, structural honesty, and organic form over mass industrial production. Metalwork from this era frequently features hand-hammered surfaces, visible joinery, and stylized natural forms.

These pieces were typically formed from sheet copper using hand-spinning or hand-hammering techniques. Edges were often finished with crimped, ruffled, or rolled borders, and handles or bases were attached using copper rivets or brazing.

Authentic items display subtle irregularities from hand-hammering rather than uniform machine stamping. Look for hand-riveted seams, original patination or oxidisation in deep recesses, and period maker stamps or monograms near the base.

Position the vessel on a deep window sill, console table, or fireplace hearth to introduce warm metallic tones. Pair it with lush green foliage such as ferns or palms to create a visual contrast against the reflective metal surface.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft, dry cloth. To preserve natural patination, avoid harsh chemical polishes; apply a thin layer of microcrystalline wax periodically to protect the metal from oxidisation, and use a waterproof plastic liner when placing live potted plants inside.
