Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in the late 19th century, Aesthetic Movement furniture emphasizes art for arts sake, often featuring ebonised timber, delicate spindles, gilded details, and influences from Japanese design.

These settees typically feature hardwood stained black to imitate ebony, paired with luxury upholstery fabrics such as velvet or silk damsk, supported by turned wooden frames and brass or ceramic castors.

Authentic pieces show natural wear where the black stain thins over time to reveal the natural grain underneath, along with period-appropriate joinery techniques and original brass or porcelain castors.

An ebonised settee works as a focal point in an entryway, bedroom, or living area, where its dark frame and bold upholstery complement neutral colour palettes or rich jewel-toned schemes.

Dust the ebonised woodwork regularly with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners. Vacuum the velvet upholstery gently using a soft brush attachment and position the piece away from direct sunlight to prevent fabric fading.
