A 19thC unframed oil on canvas of a Hussar in uniform. Thought to be French due to the frame construction and subject. Distressed but colourful and very decorative in its untoutched condition. A very faint signature or initial is in the bottom right hand. The uniform is interesting and requires more research as it appears to be rare. A painting entitled ''The Hussar'' by B.Wirth a French artist dated 1867 shows a very similar format (see last thwo photos). Brass ring to the rear for wall hanging.
