In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian classical art prints focus on subjects drawn from ancient Greek and Roman mythology, executed with formal realism and idealised figurative compositions. Influenced by academic painting traditions of the late nineteenth century, these works often depict mythological characters within natural or atmospheric settings.

Late nineteenth and early twentieth-century prints were typically produced using photogravure, lithography, or steel engraving on heavy paper stock. Frames were predominantly constructed from softwood or hardwood with applied plaster or gesso mouldings, finished with gold leaf, gilt varnish, or dark stain.

Authentic period frames feature hand-cut joinery, original wood backing boards secured with square brads, and signs of age-related cracking known as craquelure in the gesso moulding. The paper prints show fine tonal gradations without the uniform modern offset dot matrix visible under magnification.

Slender vertical classical prints are suitable for narrow wall sections, staircases, or incorporated into eclectic gallery walls. Positioning the artwork against moody wall shades such as deep blue or charcoal creates a dramatic contrast with gilded and dark timber frames.

Display prints away from direct sunlight and areas of high humidity to prevent fading and foxing. Dust the frame gently with a soft, dry brush to avoid chipping aged gesso or gilding, and clean the glass using a lightly dampened cloth without spraying glass cleaner directly onto the frame.
