Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

This Parisian Art Deco sideboard originates from 1930 and follows a distinctive low-profile form. The piece is constructed from dark brown Macassar ebony veneer with a high-gloss finish, accented by circular brass pulls, geometric wire inlay on the side doors, and a contrasting dark plinth base. Practical storage comprises three central drawers flanked by two side cupboards. It measures 77 cm high, 201 cm wide, and 60 cm deep. In a modern home, the sideboard suits placement in a living room, dining room, or hallway as a functional storage cabinet and display surface. The design complements period and contemporary interiors alike, providing surface space for lamps or decorative items alongside enclosed storage compartments.

FAQs

French Art Deco sideboards from the 1920s and 1930s are characterised by low-profile geometric silhouettes, exotic dark wood veneers such as Macassar ebony, and understated metal hardware.

These sideboards feature Macassar ebony veneer recognised for its bold vertical grain patterns, polished brass or ivory drawer pulls, and high-gloss lacquered finishes over solid hardwood frames.

Authentic pieces exhibit heavy solid construction, hand-laid book-matched veneers, geometric stringing or inlay details, and traditional dovetailed joinery on internal drawers.

Position the sideboard against a neutral wall to highlight its dramatic timber grain, pairing the low cabinet with minimalist lighting or contemporary artwork mounted above.

Dust the surface regularly with a soft microfibre cloth, keep the piece away from direct heat and moisture, and polish sparingly with specialized furniture wax to protect the varnish.
