FAQs

Georgian revival furniture emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, as craftsmen sought to recreate the elegant proportions, fine veneers, and classic forms of 18th-century English design.

These pieces typically feature solid secondary timbers overlaid with decorative veneers such as walnut or mahogany, complemented by hand-cut dovetail joints and cast brass hardware.

Authentication involves examining timber ageing, interior drawer construction methods, wood types used for secondary framing, and the manufacturing characteristics of the fixings and brasses.

Integrating a traditional wooden chest into a contemporary space creates visual contrast; it works effectively as a bedside table or hallway accent paired with minimalist art and modern lighting.

Preservation requires maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the timber.
