Georgian furniture from the 18th century is characterised by classical proportions, high-quality timber selection, and restrained ornamentation, focusing heavily on functional elegance.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany or oak, featuring hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers and solid timber secondary woods inside.

Authenticity is identified through hand-planed surfaces, irregular dovetail patterns, shrinkage cracks in the timber, and original or period-correct brass hardware fittings.

Pair the dark timber with neutral walls, minimalist lighting, and modern abstract art to create a striking visual contrast between old and new design elements.

Maintain the timber by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying occasional natural beeswax, and avoiding silicone-based polishes.
