Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Campaign furniture from the George IV period (18201830) was designed to be dismantled or folded for transport during military travel. Characterised by durable timbers like mahogany and functional brass fittings, these pieces provided comfort and stability while maintaining portability.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as mahogany or teak for strength, combined with hand-woven cane or rattan panels to keep the frame lightweight and ventilated. Metal hinges and brass castors were integrated to facilitate movement and storage.

Authentic period pieces feature period-correct joinery, heavy brass hinges, original turned legs, and iron or brass castors. Look for signs of hand-carving on turned elements and age-appropriate wear around the folding joints and rattan frame attachment points.

A folding campaign bed can serve as an elegant low-profile daybed along a window wall, a unique alternative to a coffee table in a spacious living area, or additional seating at the foot of a primary bed.

Keep the mahogany timber hydrated with high-quality beeswax applied periodically along the grain. Clean the rattan mesh using a soft brush or vacuum with a brush attachment, avoiding excessive moisture or heat sources that could cause the cane to dry out and split.
