An antique Tekke Turkmen, marriage rug, approximately 4''4'' x 3''10'', dating from the last quarter c.19th. The red madder coloured field with two columns güls, enclosed by multiple repeating borders. A old hand knotted, supple rug of very high quality wool with short selvages and fine fringes to both ends.
These rugs are considered to be ‘dowry’ weavings used by the Turkmen bride on her wedding day.
An attractive old carpet, in reasonable condition, still full of charm and character, and ready for use.

This carpet measures approximately 132.5 cm long including fringes, and 116 cm wide.

There is some wear to the pile, mostly even, with one small spot through the foundation. The reverse has couple of patches, to stabilise and reinforce it further wear. The fringes have some loses. ...lar shape. Overall the rug is still very usable, and remains full of charm. Vacuumed, deodorised, and treated for moth prevention. Clean and ready for use. - As with all vintage & antique furniture there will be signs of use, marks, wear & tear, etc.
