A lantaka is a type of small swivel gun mounted on merchant vessels, fortifications, and warships across maritime Southeast Asia, historically used from the pre-colonial era into the 19th century.

These pieces were typically cast using traditional lost-wax or open-mould techniques with bronze, brass, or various copper alloys, often featuring distinctive patination.

Authentication involves examining casting irregularities, natural bronze oxidisation, tool marks, alloy composition, and traditional stylistic motifs characteristic of regional foundries.

Such sculptural metalwork functions well as a focal point on a study desk, bookshelf, or mantelpiece, contrasting sharply against modern minimalist backgrounds.

Preservation requires avoiding chemical polishes that strip historical patination; instead, gently dust the metal surface with a soft, dry microfibre cloth.
