This rare pair of 18th century French pewter plates have been very finely decorated with portraits of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette of France with a title to each. These remarkable pieces were produced to commemorate their marriage in 1770. They have been completely hand worked with the practice of raising, beating, and punching the detail. This would have been produced by a very skilled hand. They have been further enhanced with boarders of punched circles.
