Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

During the 19th century, bronze Buddha figures were crafted across East and Southeast Asia for temple veneration, personal shrines, and scholarly display. These sculptures adhere to traditional iconography, depicting symbolic hand gestures known as mudras and seated postures on lotus pedestals.

Most antique Asian bronze statues were produced using the lost-wax casting technique, which allowed for detailed drapery, facial expressions, and ornate base motifs. Once cast, the figures were finished with hand chasing, engraving, and surface patination.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display genuine surface wear, uneven patination, and gentle oxidisation within carved recesses. The underside often reveals hand-finished casting core remnants, tool marks, or evidence of traditional sealing plates.

Interior designers position bronze figures on neutral wooden sideboards, curated bookshelf arrangements, or fireplace mantels to introduce texture and historic provenance. Placing the sculpture against soft, organic backdrops highlights its dark metalwork and sculpted silhouette.

Dust bronze sculptures gently using a dry, soft-bristle brush or microfibre cloth without applying chemical solvents or abrasive polishers. To preserve the original patina and prevent unwanted oxidisation, keep the object in a dry environment away from high humidity.
