Gilt and Gesso has dated this piece to the 1900s.
A handsome flat weave antique kilim circa 1900, possibly late 19th century to early 20th century, traditional Caucasian kilim rug showing evidence of timeworn wear, remains highly attractive floor covering and some may wish to repair, also an excellent wall hanging.

A blue ground central field of decoration with traditional, tribal repeating theme and borders, showing decorative motifs.
We consider this to be an excellent antique example and in mostly very original condition for age with some minimal attempts to join seams with a needle and thread, there is sufficient evidence of wear, not detrimental to light use.., there are thread worn areas and separation at some central seams, made on a narrow loom, these are not tears and mostly follow the seam, we may end misting and consign to our workshop to have these tightened and repaired but until then available as it is as some buyers prefer the character of the aged distress.

An exquisite country aesthetic, oriental flat weave kilim, discribed as Caucasian and might well be Anatolian, the tribes relocated there, taking practices and techniques with them, circa 1900 to 1920, perhaps earlier.

A very fine antique rug.
