This is a beautiful oil painting featuring a still life of red peonies and white irises in a vase. The brushwork is expressive, with a style reminiscent of late Impressionism or early 20th-century Post-Impressionism. There is a possible date “1946” and price “10 guineas” which suggest that it was a valuable piece at the time, as 10 guineas was a considerable amount.

Unfortunately, without a signature or provenance, identifying the artist is challenging. However, based on the style, it could be the work of a British or European floral painter active in the mid-20th century.
