Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Georgian period furniture, spanning from 1714 to 1830, is characterised by classical proportions, symmetry, and the widespread use of mahogany timber. Common design features include bracket feet, brass swan-neck handles, and functional additions such as brushing slides.

Chests of drawers from the 18th century predominantly utilised mahogany for exterior surfaces, often paired with pine or oak as secondary woods for drawer linings. Decorative hardware was commonly crafted from cast brass.

Authentic Georgian chests feature hand-cut dovetail joints, original cast brass fittings, hand-sawn back panels, and natural wear patterns consistent with age along the drawer runners.

A compact Georgian mahogany chest functions as a versatile storage piece in an entryway, bedroom, or living area. Pairing dark wood tones with neutral walls and contemporary art creates a balanced contrast between period craftsmanship and modern decor.

Maintain mahogany furniture by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and applying beeswax polish annually. Position the piece away from direct sunlight, radiators, and extreme humidity fluctuations to prevent wood shrinkage.
