Regency style emerged in Britain during the early 19th century, characterised by classical proportions, neoclassical motifs, and heavily inspired by ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian designs.

These pieces typically utilized hardwoods such as mahogany or rosewood for the structural frame, often accented with hand-carved details, gilt highlights, and traditional horsehair or wool stuffing beneath the upholstery.

Authenticity is determined by examining joinery techniques, timber ageing, hand-applied gilding, and traditional webbing or stuffing methods consistent with early 19th-century cabinet making.

Pairing this classic piece with minimalist contemporary decor or rich, textural textiles creates a sophisticated contrast that highlights its historical craftsmanship without overwhelming the room.

Keep the piece away from direct sunlight and heat sources to prevent timber warping and fabric fading, and gently clean wooden frames using a soft, dry cloth without harsh chemical polishes.
