Ziegler carpets were commissioned starting in the late nineteenth century by Ziegler & Co., a British-Anglo Swiss company operating in Sultanabad, Persia. These carpets were designed specifically for Western markets, featuring larger scale motifs and softer colour palettes than traditional Persian rugs.
