Rare Antique Khamseh Tribal Khan Audience Carpet. Very Large Size. 453cm X 178cm.

Description

Khamseh confederacy,south west persia.

Last quarter 19th century.

Scarce example of a commission piece made for either a tribal khan or an audience carpet laid before a tribal leader.

Has three central hooked diamond shaped medallions filled with tribal motifs,geometric peacocks and pecking chickens with matching ivory coloured corner spandrels filled in the same manner.

All ends and sides secured. Does have low pile with light wear. Top left corner small reweave and a few hard to see scattered repairs. However if perfect would be four times plus the asking price here.

Has been hand washed and de-dusted.

If you do some research you will find khan carpets are harder to source and there is never many for sale on the marketplace worldwide.

Size is 14 foot 10 inches by 5 foot 10 inches. 453cm X 178cm. At widest points. Size excluding wool fringes. All woollen construction.

U.k post £35. Visits arranged or viewings in situ. Everything catered for.
