Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

The George III period spans from 1760 to 1820, characterised by a transition from heavier baroque influences to more refined neoclassical proportions, often featuring clean lines and quality timber construction.

Cabinet makers predominantly utilised native timbers such as oak, elm, and walnut during the early period, later incorporating imported woods like mahogany alongside brass hardware and dovetail joinery.

Authenticity is identified through hand-cut dovetail joints, handmade iron or brass fixings, timber shrinkage patterns, tool marks on secondary woods, and consistent patina developed over centuries.

Pairing historical timber furniture with minimalist modern decor, neutral walls, and contemporary lighting creates a balanced contrast that highlights the craftsmanship of the piece.

Maintain antique wooden items by keeping them away from direct heat sources and sunlight, dusting regularly with a dry cloth, and occasionally applying traditional beeswax to nourish the finish.
