Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in late 18th to early 19th-century Britain during the reign of King George III, a bow-fronted chest features a gently convex curved front profile. This design offered a softer aesthetic profile compared to straight-fronted chests of the earlier Georgian era.

These pieces were typically constructed using dense flame mahogany or Cuban mahogany veneers over pine or oak carcasses. Secondary timbers such as pine or oak were utilised for drawer linings, typically joined with hand-cut dovetails.

Authentic period chests feature hand-cut dovetail joints on drawer construction, hand-planed back panels, and wear consistent with age. Original turned timber or brass handles, keyhole escutcheons, and period-correct splayed or bracket feet are key indicators.

A Georgian mahogany chest functions as a focal storage piece in an entryway, hallway, or bedroom. Positioning dark mahogany woodwork against neutral wall colours, minimalist table lamps, or contemporary artwork creates visual contrast between historic timber and modern design.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice per year following the grain. Keep the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent the timber from drying, cracking, or fading.
