This Georgian chest of drawers from the 18th century consists of dark brown oak with visible grain, brass drop handles, keyhole escutcheons, turned bun feet, and geometric octagonal panel mouldings showing some surface wear and restoration requirements. The rectangular top sits above two small drawers over three graduated long drawers, each displaying pegged joints along the drawer fronts and edges worn from age. The piece measures 99 cm high, 101 cm wide, and 58 cm deep, providing substantial bedroom or hallway storage. It suits placement against a wall in a traditional hallway, bedroom, or living room to hold folded textiles or accessories.

During the 18th century, chests of drawers evolved from simple joined coffers into refined storage pieces, featuring distinct drawer dividers, dovetail joints, and decorative panel mouldings typical of the early to mid-Georgian period.

These pieces were crafted using solid English oak, hand-sawn drawer linings, peg construction, and hand-cut dovetail joints, frequently fitted with cast brass drop handles and keyhole escutcheons.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of hand-planing, irregular dovetail joints, natural timber shrinkage across wide panels, and authentic wear patterns around keyholes and drawer runners.

Integrate the item as a focal point in a hallway, bedroom, or living space by pairing the dark timber tones with neutral wall palettes, contemporary ceramics, or minimalist lighting.

Maintain the surface finish by dusting with a soft cloth and applying a natural beeswax polish twice a year, while keeping the item away from direct heat sources to prevent timber movement.
