Holmes Antiques has dated this piece to the 18th Century.
The three hart shaped splats are finely carved and to the centre are the most wonderfully executed Prince of Wales feathers. In good solid condition throughout, retaining all original oak and beach rails with added strengthening pieces for upholstery.

It is interesting to note that the famous London dealer Norman Adams had a pair of Chairs that were almost certainly from the same workshop, also interesting is the connection with Gillows of Lancaster.
