Very rare, well carved 19th century Grand Tour alabaster library sculpture of the Seated Nymph from the group known as The Invitation to the Dance, one of the most light-hearted groups from classical Hellenistic antiquity. Paired with a nude Faun with Clappers who invites her to dance. Portrayed partially draped, reaching for her outsretched foot and seated on a rocky outcrop, this most closely resembles the example from the Medici Collection in the Uffizi in Florence and the Nymph in the Museo Archeologico in Naples.
