The Showa period in Japan saw a continuation of traditional metal casting techniques alongside modern artistic influences, blending historical subjects with refined foundry methods.

These sculptures are typically produced using the lost-wax casting method, utilising copper-alloy bronze that develops a natural patination over time.

Authenticity is assessed through examination of the casting quality, the depth and colour of the patina, weight, and the presence of artist signatures or foundry marks.

A bronze sculpture works well as a focal point on a mantlepiece, console table, or dedicated display surface where its metallic texture contrasts with clean architectural lines.

Bronze items should be dusted gently with a soft, dry cloth and kept away from excessive moisture and direct sunlight to protect the integrity of the patination.
