An interesting freestanding mahogany desk, the top having the original brown leather writing surface with a raised compartment.
The desk in is good antique condition with wear commensurate with age. The mahogany has lovely patina throughout having been through a hard life at sea.
The desk is purportedly from the break up of the last Czar of Russia''s Yacht at Cammel Lairds shipyard in the 1920s
This would make sense as the brass drop handles are distinctive of the russian era of that time.
The last Czar of Russia was Nicholas II ( 18th may 1868-17th July 1918).
A very interesting and useful item.
