We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An Avalokiteshvara figure represents the Bodhisattva of Compassion within Mahayana and Vajrayana Buddhism. Cast traditionally in bronze, these figures frequently feature multiple arms, mudras, lotus thrones, and halo mandorlas symbolising infinite protection and spiritual mercy.

Most antique bronze deities were constructed using the lost-wax casting technique, allowing for intricate surface detail in jewellery, drapery, and facial expressions. Following casting, statues were often hand-chased, cold-worked, and treated with pigments such as red cinnabar or vermilion in recessed areas.

Authentic pieces exhibit signs of age such as natural metal oxidisation, wear to high-relief points, and remnants of ritual pigments or gilding in crevices. Casting seams, core material remnants inside hollow bases, and hand-tooled finishing marks are key indicators of traditional craftsmanship.

A bronze deity figure functions well as a focal point on a dark wooden sideboard, mantelpiece, or within a curated bookshelf. Complement the bronze tone with natural textured linens, stone surfaces, and warm ambient lighting to enhance the sculptural silhouette.

Maintain antique bronzes by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid chemical polishers, solvents, or water, which can strip historic pigments and natural patination; application of a microcrystalline wax can offer long-term protection against humidity.
