Ancient antique Ushak runner, woven over 120 years ago and with so much rustic charm. With turquoise blues, warm reds and golden yellows, woven with an abstract geometric pattern, it would look wonderful on a wooden floor or placed on sisal. Ushak runners are rare to find as they usually produced larger carpets for the Western market.
With some areas of lower pile showing in places, this could be improved by our workshop, but we love this antique, and not perfect look. Supplied with our sturdy underlay this prevents the runner moving on the floor and actually helps prevent wear.
Ushak runners, carpets and rugs or Oushak depending on the spelling preference, were woven in Western Anatolia which was one of the largest rug production areas since the Ottoman Empire. Their designs tend to be more open than Persian rugs and soft dyes are not uncommon. Often younger Ushak''s woven around 1920-30 will be rich red in colour and use bolder geometric designs, as dyes and designs changed over the years.
Arrange to view this antique Ushak runner in situ, use our request home visit form, we happily travel all over the UK showing our inventory of carpets, rugs and runners to private clients and interior designers.
