An elegant and muted Portuguese Needlepoint, circa 1940 woven in the village of Arraiolos, Southern-Portugal.  A light off white to grey tone background canvas with a lovely leaf design around the central motif.  A narrow border design, with wonderful flowers using greens, blues and pinks, a minor border stripe of lilac, soft reds and pinks frame the piece.We love Portuguese needlepoints, and this one would look very much at home in a variety of rooms.  Nice original condition with a couple of old repairs, we supply excellent anti-slip underlay to keep them flat and safe on any floor type.Arraiolos is where these Portuguese needlework carpets are from a town in the province of Alto Alentejo in southern Portugal.  The weave on this needlepoint is Arraiolos long-armed cross-stitch along with hand dyed wool using natural dyes.
