Description

These charming frames are becoming increasingly rare to find. The rounded corners on the head end panel are lovely and create a nice shape and contrast to the angular, diamond shaped ironwork within the panel.

Good detail in the decorative central casting, and across the clamps.

Professionally restored to be sturdy and practical, the frames have been shot blasted, primed and hand painted with Little Greene’s Pompeian Ash, with a dark wax over to preserve and shine.

The side rails have been strengthened and adapted to support wood slats or a bed base.

Suitable for standard UK double mattress size 4’6” x 6’3” / 135cm x 190cm

Head height 112cm

Foot height 36cm

Side rail height 36cm

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Antique iron beds are metal bedframes typically manufactured during the 19th and early 20th centuries, prized for their durability and decorative metalwork.

These beds were primarily constructed using malleable iron, cast iron, and sometimes brass accents, often joined with sturdy mechanical fasteners.

Authentic pieces usually exhibit hand-forged elements, original painted or patinated surfaces, traditional casting marks, and weight consistent with solid iron construction.

Pairing the dark metal frame with neutral linen bedding, layered textured throws, and minimalist accessories creates a balanced, modern aesthetic.

Preserve the finish by dusting with a dry cloth, avoiding harsh chemical cleaners, and periodically checking and tightening structural joints.
