Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A serpentine-fronted birds eye maple wardrobe features a gently curved undulating facade combined with figure-rich maple veneer displaying small, swirling grain patterns. Popular during the 19th century, these large storage pieces showcased high cabinetmaking skill through complex veneering and inlaid stringing.

These wardrobes typically incorporate a solid timber carcase faced with premium birds eye maple veneers, often accented with boxwood or ebony stringing. Construction features hand-cut dovetail joints on drawers, panelled doors, and solid brass hardware such as swan-neck handles.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut veneers that vary slightly in thickness, original brass locks, and natural aging or light oxidisation on secondary woods like pine or oak drawer linings. The distinct figure of genuine birds eye maple displays randomised grain swirls rather than modern printed patterns.

A substantial blond wood wardrobe serves as a focal architectural piece in a master bedroom or dressing room, balancing darker timber floors or neutral walls. Modern interiors benefit from pairing its warm golden tones with understated textiles and clean-lined contemporary lighting.

Dust the timber surfaces regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish once or twice a year to maintain hydration. Avoid placing the item in direct sunlight or adjacent to strong heat sources to prevent the figure veneer from fading or lifting.
