A beautiful pale pink antique Ushak carpet, full of rustic charm and an all over palmette design.  An off white natural wool border, using an abstract and basic design reminiscent of the crab border pattern, usually seen in Caucasian rugs from Azerbaijan.  The natural colours are sublime, faded pinks, gold tones, petrol blues, cherry reds and greens are an amazing palette.  It would look wonderful in a drawing room, bedroom or dining room, the colours would be fabulous to work with in an existing scheme or choosing fabrics to work with it.

Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Ushak carpets originate from the town of Ushak in western Anatolia, Turkey, and have been prized internationally since the late 15th century for their distinctive large-scale floral and medallion motifs.

These carpets are traditionally hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for both the pile and the foundation, often dyed with natural vegetable dyes derived from plants, roots, and insects.

Authenticity can be determined by examining the irregularity of the hand-knotted pile, natural variations in vegetable dye colours, the presence of wool foundations, and the characteristic soft, lustrous texture of the wool.

An antique Ushak rug works exceptionally well as a grounding element in contemporary spaces, adding warmth, texture, and historical contrast when paired with minimalist or mid-century modern furniture.

Preserve antique carpets by vacuuming gently without a rotating brush bar, keeping them out of direct sunlight to prevent colour fading, and utilizing professional specialist cleaning services periodically.
