A chanteh is a traditional small nomadic bag used for carrying personal items, and the bag face represents the decorative front panel surviving as an independent textile.

These pieces typically feature hand-spun wool foundations and piles, coloured using natural vegetable and insect dyes such as madder and indigo.

Authenticity is assessed through the regularity of hand-knotting, the characteristic handle of the wool, natural colour variations known as abrash, and traditional asymmetric or symmetric knotting techniques.

Such textiles are frequently mounted and framed as wall art or displayed as small accent pieces on tables to add texture and historical depth to a room.

Preservation requires keeping the textile out of direct sunlight to prevent dye fading, avoiding excessive moisture, and gently vacuuming with mesh protection.
