Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

FAQs

Antique carved wooden beds often feature ornate relief carvings, panelled headboards and footboards, and robust timber construction characteristic of 19th-century revivalist and period furniture movements.

These pieces are typically constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak, utilizing traditional mortise and tenon joinery, hand-carved detailing, and pegged joints to ensure structural integrity.

Authenticity is identified through patination, tool marks consistent with period craftsmanship, hand-cut screws or wooden pegs, and the natural ageing and shrinkage of the timber over time.

Pair the substantial wooden frame with neutral linen bedding, minimalist bedside tables, and soft lighting to balance the heavy visual weight and rich colour of the historic timber.

Preserve antique wood by keeping it away from direct heat sources and sunlight, maintaining stable humidity levels, and occasionally applying appropriate natural waxes rather than modern silicone polishes.
