A scarce Early 19th Century Antique English Georgian Copper Gallon Measure of seamed construction and uncommon form, bearing upon the neck the Excise Stamp of a Liver Bird, for the City of Liverpool, together with both Georgian and Victorian Excise Stamps. The Weights and Measures Acts of 1824 and 1825 only slowly took effect outside of the main commercial centres of the United Kingdom. Liverpool however, being the country''s leading seaport stood in the vanguard of their implementation, and this scarce example of a gallon measure is as fine an example of the period as one is likely to find.
