Farnham Antique Carpets has dated this Antique Tabriz Persian Carpet to the 1880s.
The soft palette is due to the carpets age, woven around circa 1880-1890 the dyes would have been much stronger and fade to give a wonderful saturated feel. The design is known as the vase Tree of Life design woven with incredible detail and colour, on an ivory white background and full of intricate floral work and exquisite trees. The design at start composes of wonderful stags and pale blue trees, all woven with remarkable precision, the weavers who created this work of art were masters of their profession.
A very rare carpet and in the best condition, truly a collectable and valuable carpet over 130 years old and with a soft handle and wool pile. Which you would expect from a master workshop carpet.
