Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An early French Art Deco commode transitions from classical French furniture forms to early twentieth-century modernism. It typically combines traditional cabinet-making features, such as marble tops and cabriole legs, with modern geometric wood parquetry and streamlined brass hardware.

French Art Deco commodes were constructed using fine cabinet woods such as walnut, mahogany, and rosewood, often styled with intricate parquetry or marquetry veneers. Surfaces were frequently crowned with fitted marble slabs and accented with gilt bronze or brass mounts.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-finished joinery, solid wood drawer linings, and genuine marble slabs cut to fit the frame. Look for characteristic geometric grain patterns, original cast brass or bronze handles, and natural wear around the drawer runners and feet.

Position the commode as a focal point against a neutral backdrop to highlight the wood grain and geometric parquetry. Balance the historic design by mounting contemporary artwork or a minimalist mirror above the marble surface.

Dust the wooden surfaces regularly with a soft, dry cloth and apply a natural beeswax polish along the grain annually. Clean the marble top using a pH-neutral cleaner designed for natural stone, ensuring spills are wiped immediately to prevent staining or etching.
