Small good quality 19th century patinated bronze bust of Napoleon. Classic composition, bare headed, 'herm form' portrait version after Antoine-Denis Chaudet (1763-1810). The original model created in 1799 was adopted as the official portrait of Napoleon and widely disseminated throughout the Empire. Nicely modelled presented on a stepped reddish brown marble base. France, circa 1860.
