FAQs

KPM refers to the Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin, renowned for producing finely painted porcelain plaques that gained significant popularity during the 19th century as luxury collector pieces.

These items are crafted from high-fired hard-paste porcelain, painted meticulously using enamel colours that are repeatedly fired in a kiln to achieve permanence and brilliant gloss.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining the reverse side for factory impressed marks, blue sceptre symbols, painter signatures, and the overall weight, glaze depth, and fineness of the brushwork.

Such a piece can be hung as a focal point against a richly coloured wall or displayed on a specialist stand within a traditional or eclectic gallery wall arrangement.

Keep the plaque away from direct sunlight to prevent enamel fading, clean gently with a soft dry microfibre cloth, and ensure secure framing hardware to avoid accidental drops.
