Here is a highly striking early 19th Century oil painting probably after the original Baroque painting of the Head of Christ Crowned With Thorns 16th Century Italian artist Guido Reni.

This hugely emotive painting is in the Baroque style and see's Christ in Beatitude, gazing up to the heavens in bliss as the cruel thorns tear into his brow, blood trickling down his temple. The figure is painted wearing a red robe over one shoulder, and is framed within a painted oval which really draws the viewers eye into the face of Christ. Measuring 45cm by 40cm in its gilded frame, the canvas measures 31cm by 26cm.

The painting is in super antique condition with the gentlest of surface wear to be expected of a painting of this age, but as I hope the photographs show, it really is an impactful picture that would look wonderful in any room.
