Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. FAQs

Louis XVI style bedroom furniture features neoclassical proportions, geometric symmetry, and ornamentation derived from Greco-Roman antiquity. Common design elements include fluted column legs, carved ribbon and garland details, and delicate woven cane panels framed in painted or gilded timber.

Traditional French caned beds are constructed from hardwoods such as beech, walnut, or oak, often finished with gesso and paint. The decorative panels employ natural rattan cane woven in an open-hexagonal pattern to create lightweight yet durable support structures.

Authentic period pieces feature hand-cut mortise and tenon joinery, original pegging, and irregular hand-woven cane work. Look for natural wear on carved high points, layered historical paint finishes, and classical decorative motifs such as ribbon crests or rosettes.

Pair a painted, carved bed frame with crisp linen bedclothes in muted neutral tones to accentuate the textured cane panels. Contrast the ornate French detailing with understated modern bedside lighting and simple wooden architectural elements.

Dust the carved frame and woven cane panels regularly using a soft brush or vacuum attachment. Keep the bedstead away from direct heat sources and excessive moisture to prevent the wood frame from warping and the natural cane from drying out or splitting.
