Description

A very decorative and large size mixed metal and bronze vase from the Meiji period. This stylish large vase has a fluted top and is decorated with a climbing prunus tree branch having a full okimono bird of prey perched on the stump of the tree , silvered with gold decorated feet and beak . The body of the vase is deep green patented bronze.

Signed to the base , believed to be by Genryusai Seiya

Produced between 1868 and 1912, Japanese Meiji period metalwork is celebrated for its transition from samurai sword fitting manufacture to fine art casting.
