Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Produced between 1868 and 1912, Japanese Meiji period metalwork is celebrated for its transition from samurai sword fitting manufacture to fine art casting. Craftsmen employed extreme realism, high-relief chasing, and sophisticated alloy combinations to create sculptural vessels and decorative items for export and domestic display.

Craftsmen utilised high-quality bronze alongside specialised Japanese alloys such as shakudo (a copper and gold alloy) and shibuichi (a copper and silver alloy). These metals were patinated using natural chemical processes to produce rich dark hues, contrast, and varied subtle colour tones.

Authentic pieces exhibit exceptionally crisp hand-chasing, heavy casting weight, natural aged patina, and detailed execution of organic subjects such as birds, flora, or foliage. Many authentic examples also feature cast or incised signatures from the artisan or workshop on the underside or reverse.

A dark bronze sculptural vase functions effectively as a focal decorative object on a sideboard, console, or mantelpiece. Its strong silhouette and dark tone contrast well against neutral backdrops, muted paint schemes, or rich timber furniture.

Regular gentle dusting with a soft, dry lint-free cloth or camel-hair brush is recommended to remove settled debris. Abrasive polishes, chemical cleaners, and water should be avoided, as these remove the original historical patina and compromise the bronze surface.
