This Victorian credenza is fashioned from warm brown burr walnut veneer with glass doors, curved side glass panels, and a solid plinth base. The traditional English country house furnishing displays detailed craftsmanship, incorporating carved corbels near the top of the upright supports, scrolled carvings at the base of the pillars, and small keyhole escutcheons on the central doors. The polished timber finish accentuates the natural grain pattern across the curved top and lower framing, complemented by interior glass shelving visible through the transparent panels. Measuring 103 cm high, 137 cm wide, and 41 cm deep, the storage cabinet fits well in a living room, dining room, or hallway to display collectables, glassware, or books. The enclosed structure protects items from dust while offering a sophisticated focal point against an interior wall.

FAQs

A Victorian credenza is a low, broad side cabinet designed for display and storage in dining rooms or drawing rooms, characterised by fine veneers, glazed doors, and carved accents.

Nineteenth-century credenzas were predominantly constructed from solid hardwoods such as oak or pine, surfaced with decorative veneers like burr walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, and finished with glass panes and brass hardware.

Authentic pieces feature distinctive figured walnut veneer patterns, hand-cut joinery inside drawers or framing, original glass panes with subtle distortions, and hand-carved decorative corbels or pilasters.

A credenza serves as a focal piece in a hallway, dining room, or living space, providing an elegant surface for artwork and lamps while offering enclosed glass display space for curating collections.

Maintain burr walnut by dusting regularly with a soft cloth, applying high-grade beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain, and keeping the piece away from direct sunlight and central heating radiators.
