Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chest on chest, also known as a tallboy, is a two-sectioned piece of storage furniture featuring a narrower chest of drawers fitted atop a slightly wider base chest. Popularised during the 18th century in Britain, this design was engineered to maximise vertical storage capacity while maintaining balanced proportion and ease of movement.

These pieces were predominantly constructed using solid and veneered mahogany or walnut for the exterior, with drawer linings crafted from oak or pine. Hardware typically comprised cast brass drop handles with decorative backplates and matching escutcheons.

Authentic George III examples feature hand-cut dovetailed drawer joints, hand-planed timber backboards, and natural age-related shrinkage splits. Look for original cast brass hardware, graduated drawer configurations, and period construction details such as reeded chamfered corners and ogee bracket feet.

Position the tallboy as a primary focal point against a neutral or deep jewel-toned wall to complement the dark wood tones. Balance the vertical height of the piece by pairing it with modern table lamps, textured rugs, or contemporary art nearby.

Position the furniture away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent timber movement and finish degradation. Apply a high-quality clear beeswax polish once or twice per year, buffing along the wood grain with a soft cotton cloth.
