This early twentieth century Japanese bronze vase dates from 1910 in the Japanese Meiji style. It takes a baluster shape with a narrow turned rim and a flat base, finished in a mottled golden-brown patina. The body is decorated with raised mixed-metal inlay depicting large peony blossoms and delicate flowering branches, rendered in contrasting gold and silver tones with dark shaded foliage. A faint artist signature appears to the side of the main floral design, showing light surface wear consistent with age and handling. The vase stands 24 cm high. It sits well on top of a sideboard or within a gentleman's library, adding a refined ornamental accent to a traditional interior scheme.
